"We were made so welcome by Jill and Josh. Our little gite LA JACINTHE was very comfortable. What we most enjoyed was lighting our wood burning stove in the evening after travelling to all the beautiful villages, towns and indeed the seaside on a few occasions. Being in the heart of the countryside was restful and peaceful. The little tables outside allowed us to have a drink or barbecue in the sun when we wished. The people of Brittany were friendly and helpful....altogether a great experience. Margaret and Emma"
Mr & Mrs H stayed in LA JONQUILLE last August - It is a beautiful, tranquil location overlooking meadows. We were in close proximity to many pretty towns and villages, our favourites being La Gacilly and Rochfort-en-Terre. We visited long sandy beaches at Penestin and Damgan and the bustling market in Vannes. We had a wonderful holiday."
John & Mark Cutts with parents have stayed in LE PETUNIA 3 times -
May I take this opportunity to thank you for all your kindnesses on all three of our visits and to recommend you and your gites to anyone thinking of visiting this unspoilt part of Brittany.
Lastly, you and your gites. It is not often I can say I have been pleasantly surprised but in this case I was. The place from the outside was every bit as beautiful as it looked in the pictures on your website. It is not called La Maison des Fleurs for nothing ! We stayed in the farmhouse, the main gite, and found it both charming, with its exposed beams and thick stone walls, and practical. My brother and I brought along our elderly parents who found it easy to navigate the stairs and having two toilets and bathrooms saved a lot of queuing ! Also, the views were stunning
As to yourself and Josh, well, the fact we have returned twice since our original visit in 2006 speaks volumes. A bit like the Bretons themselves, you have a reserve about you but also you are approachable. At first, when we were finding our way round we could always ask for your help and advice without feeling awkward and this was a big help. I will always remember our nights out and our nights 'in' sat at the front of the gites, drinks in hand in the light at 11 at night !!
I have read your page for Josh on your updated website and in him you have a tourist attraction in its own right !! Polite but fun, he is a credit it to you. And, what with his passion for model cars, his interest in, (and kindness towards), animals and his skills with lego, he is good company for other kids and adults alike.
Finally, as regards the location of your gites. Within 5 minutes drive are the ville de fleurs small town of La Gacilly with its beautiful bridge, busy small shop, artisans and numerous restaurants and grills. Not to mentin Keith's boat hire from where you can slowly meander down the river Villaine for an hour or a day.Five minutes the other way is Carentoir with its 'lake' for swimming and fishing and its pretty village centre with fountain. Fifteen minutes takes you to Mallestroit with its memorial to its heroic Mayor who was shot by the Nazis for refusing to give away members of the Resistance. Nearby is the Museum of the Resistance. The coast, Vannes etc ( i would reccommend Carnac ) is no longer than an hour away either. For provisions, there are supermarkets in both La Gacilly and Carentoir.
In summary, a lovely place, with lovely hosts, from which to use as a base for discovering the real France and the real french with generally good weather and the coast handy - if you want it !
Yamat !
